Detoxing Your Insides with a Cleansing Regimen

Feeling beautiful on the outside comes from healthy insides. It's easy to get lost in our beautifully packaged cosmetics, and skincare products but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, our health comes first. After all, our body is a temple, right? (Lousy cliche, I know...)

Anyway, what I am getting at is that I sometimes lose sight of what's really important and indulge in vanity a little too much. How much is too much, right? Lately I've been feeling kind of sluggish and dull and all sorts of crappy.  My skin feels dry and irritated from the constant weather hiccups (hot one day, raining the next... make up your mind!) I decided to start a cleanse regimen to get rid of toxins in my body probably due to stress, pollution, foods I eat and other environmental factors like dust and debris. I went to Whole Foods after straight after work today and bought a 2 week cleansing kit.

What it is: The kit contains a two week supply of vitamins that you take in the morning and at night. I'm not going to lie, it's a rigorous vitamin overload. During the 1st week, you take 12 vitamins each day. By the 2nd week, you take 13 vitamins O_O CRAZY right?

I've done this once before a year ago or so and it works. Truly works. I was so skeptical of it at the time because I can easily blend my own concoction of healthy fibrous stuff, but this kit has a lot of plant extracts that you wouldn't otherwise easily get at the grocery store, like dandelion root or elm bark.

I don't want to get all gross on you all, but you pretty much can expect what you're thinking to expect ;) Your digestive system will get a thorough cleaning. The toxins living in your body will be flushed out so you can feel more energized and/or lose weight. I don't recall if I lost any weight but the water retention on my face went down, my skin became way clearer and I slept better.

It's crazy but I felt this was really effective for me. I've never tried any other cleanses before simply because I'm kind of a creature of habit and tend to go back to things I've tried.

I bought this at Whole Foods for $12.99 pretax. It's from their 365 Everyday line. You can find different cleanses online or at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or natural foods store.

Have you tried this? Any thoughts? :) I hope I'm not being gross o_o

Current Favorite Blushes and other March favorites

I was trying to think of a clever title but I totally failed that o_o I guess this post speaks for itself, doesn't it? Over the past few months, I realized that I am an impetuous blush hoarder. Anything that tickles my fancy, I need and nothing will get in the way. Well, maybe some things... like a budget.

Stila - Make Me Blush

I first saw this blush when other bloggers snagged it for Valentine's Day. It came in a set with the blush, and a lip gloss. It was sold out everywhere by the time I finished reading the reviews... darn. Don't you love the gorgeous multi toned cheek color?  I finally got around to getting just the blush :) It's such an iridescent combination of corals, pinks and peachy gold tones. Extremely pigmented as well! I'm loving it!

The other blushes I'm currently crazy about is the Illamasqua blushes! I've been reading a lot about them and I  realize what a MUST HAVE they are! I bought Katie immediately because i love pastel pinks. Perfect for that hint of color like you just came back from the gym :)

Very true to pan. I adore this color so much. I really want to get Lover and Excite now! They're pretty pricey at $24 each so I have to be careful!

Other favorites...

Stila's It Girl palette - I've been using this a lot because it's a pretty fool proof set of colors. The eyeshadows are really soft and silky and I'm loving the pretty neutrals.

Stila Little Black Dress Gel Liner - I've had this for awhile now and didn't open it until recently. It's such a pretty liner. Fortunately or unfortunately, there is very fine purple and pinkish glitters in it. It doesn't bother me because I find it to be a nice change from what I regularly use. It makes my eyeshadow appear more vibrant and my eyes less tired :)

Dior Show Mascara - Just an intensely dark, very luxurious mascara to have. There isn't much to be said about it because it does what it does :)

Alright, that's it for now. More tomorrow! :) Goodnight!

Brief Review of Sana Nameraka Face Cream

Hey everyone! I'm so excited about this cream right now that I just NEED to blog about it! I've only used it for about two weeks but I just love how it feels on my skin. I didn't expect much when I bought it and just kept it stored away for awhile. How lame am I? O_O

Sana Nameraka Face Cream

Here's the breakdown!

What it is: A thick white cream perfect for nighttime use. It is formulated with organic soybeans and contains plant collagen (from the soybeans) for your skin to absorb. Because I can't translate from direct Japanese, I don't know the full claims of this cream. Darn!

Texture: It feels like what you normally are used to in a jar. Like a concentrated emulsion with mask-like moisture, hence the thick cream.

Scent: They say there is no scent but we all know there is no such thing! The scent is the typical no scent smell. Pretty faint glue stick smell that goes away instantly.
Strengths: Really moisturizing and not sticky! My skin felt really supple and soft in the morning. Can we say hardworking soy beans? :p
Weaknesses: None for me, and I have combo skin toward the oilier side.
PackagingPlastic jar. It's practical what it's housed in, but I sometimes get fearful of creams in plastic jars (plastic in general) because of the whole plastic BPA chemical thing. Price: $10 on AdamBeauty, $15 on Sasa.com for 50g (1.7 oz) of product.
Overall: This cream is the very basic of skincare. It's a nice thick cream that provides good moisturization and minimal efforts. It probably has skin brightening properties from the soybeans so that is always a plus. I really like it! It's a rich cream, it's basic and it's affordable. I love how it feels. This is a definite repurchase for me! I have yet to try the entire line, but I'm pretty happy with this overall.

Your thoughts? :) I'd love to hear what you thought of it or if you've tried other products in this line! Do share!

Review: Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Foundation + FOTD

My obsession with BB creams have kind of died down (WHAT?!?!). No no.. not like that. While I still love BB creams for their multi functional (gimmicky maybe) benefits, I was really missing the beautiful bottles of foundation. I am always on the hunt for foundations and I was so delighted to have stumbled across the Guerlain Lingerie De Peau one. I bought it and tried it out for several weeks. I believe it came out sometime late last year (August/Sept-ish) but I was so absorbed into BB creams at the time that I didn't take a second look at any foundations. Ah well, better now than never.

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau is lightweight foundation that provides sheer coverage  that has the "glow" factor I absolutely cannot be without.

My initial thoughts after buying this foundation was how much I really love it. Although it provides sheer coverage, it really evens out your complexion. I realized what I want from my foundation is even skin and it does just that :)

Shade 02 Beige Claire (Equiv to MAC NC20-25)

What it is: A lightweight foundation that provides sheer coverage that acts like a second skin.
Texture: It's a creamy texture that is more on the liquidy side and spreads very easily when applied with a brush or a finger.
Scent: There is a pleasant smell. I've never tried any Guerlain products before so I can't say if they have a "signature smell" like JS products. The smell is really subtle, and pretty but doesn't linger at all. It goes away nearly instantly after you spread the foundation.
Strengths: Lightweight! And a little goes a long way. My skin is nowhere near perfect and I have a lot of unevenness but half a pump is more than enough to even out my skin tone. Spreads easily because of how liquidy it is. Sheer to medium coverage if you use more.
Weaknesses: Only available in 9 shades. Some people also prefer more coverage and they have another foundation that does just that.
Packaging: The foundation is housed in a luxurious glass bottle with their signature emblem on the cap. A bit heavier than most foundations I own, but really beautiful nonetheless. The pump is very basic and standard but sanitary and easy to use.
Price: $56 on Sephora.
Budget Friendly Alternative: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation $7-12, drugstores... wait for coupons!
Overall: I would definitely repurchase! Besides the hefty price tag, this foundation is near perfect for me. The most important factor for me in a foundation is providing even coverage without having to wear a mask. It's pretty moisturizing and applies really nicely into the skin :) Lighter than a tinted moisturizer. It's great for warmer weather and lasts all work day!

Canmake Nudy Glow + MAC Quick Tease swatches

Good morning, lovelies :) I hope you all had a pleasant week. I love going to the Japanese supermarkets for their beauty/cosmetic isles. I came across the Canmake Nudy Glow gloss and was so excited!! I've been wanting to get one for so long w/o ordering online.

I got it in 01 Rose Macaroon :) I saw these swatches from Maddy Loves and Mac Nunu awhile ago... LOL
Unfortunately, this was the only shade available at the store. I really wanted to try Strawberry Whip o_o

The applicator is a soft lip brush similar to the Dior lip glosses. I can't make up my mind whether I prefer sponge applicators or brushes. I do like how i can "paint" my lips though :) It feels really special.

This lip gloss is love! I love love love love LOVE it so much! I don't consider this to be your regular run of the mill drugstore glosses, because it is really pigmented and feels really luxurious on your lips. It lasts probably about 4-5 hours on a given day. Most lip glosses become lackluster after 4-5 hours anyway but this one doesn't leave a streaky mess or an ugly lip line ring =p

Gorgeous! Rose Macaroon should be called Pink Macaroon because it is a nudy pink color. It falls in the nude category for me. It gives a nice opaque color with two coats of gloss.

When you apply the gloss w/the lip brush that it comes with, it's pretty streaky. I used my ring finger to blend in the lip gloss.

I'm excited to try the other shades, but I'm pretty happy with this one. I  love it so much at the moment! <3

NOTE: I bought the Canmake gloss at Mitsuwa Supermarket, but it's readily available online if you don't live near one. You can try to see if Marukai stores have it as well. I know Marukai ships via Fedex within the US... but the shipping charges are crazy =p The gloss was  less than $10.

Another lip gloss I'm really loving at the moment is MAC's Quick Tease. Unfortunately it's a discontinued  shade but I've seen them at CCOs, Ebay, Comsetics Wholesale, and Amazon. I don't really follow the collections that MAC comes out with because it feels like they have so many one after another. I'm not even sure what they're displaying right now... Wonder Woman or something? o_o Charm Pale? I don't know. I usually get my MAC fixes at beauty outlets or online.

Quick Tease is a vampy berry plum shade. I'm loving these vampy fall shades. I normally never venture to those colors because it's wayyy to bold for me, especially at work. But it's totally wearable!

I love the shimmers in it. It's sparkly but not overly so. It particularly looks nice when it's cold and cloudy outside. The warmth of the color really warms up your face :)

The thought of having two contrasting lip glosses in my makeup bag makes me feel complete. It's as if I can achieve any look with the swipe of a lip color o_~ haha, crazy.

What are your favorites these days? Fan of Canmake or Mac? :)

Enjoy your weekend everyone! :) I am looking forward to Korean BBQ tonight! Yum!

Thank you for your continuous support on my blog :) You guys are the best! <3

Chanel Lipsticks, Recent Buys and a Few Favorites

Who doesn't like Chanel? I have an understated love their lipsticks. Always have. Although I own a very small collection, I have a vast love for lip colors and have an embarrassingly large collection (60+, little more, little less) of lipsticks! :p

Chanel Rouge Allure in Emotion is a gorgeous satin-y rose peach shade with a gold sheen. I feel wonderful whenever I wear Emotion, because of how the lip color  adds dimension to your face with its blend of three fabulously elegant colors - rose pink, peach and gold.

Chanel Rouge Allure in Ardent is a seamlessly beautiful sheer to medium rosy coral shade with gold flecks. This one is HG because of how wearable it is. This shade reminds me of the spring bloom, and all the gorgeous florals of the season in one lipstick tube :)

Rouge Coco Legende is a complex creamy mauve pink/fuchsia shade. I can't really describe it any other way without sounding crazy. I absolutely adore this lipstick because it truly livens up the face on a cold day. It's that's youthful pink shade that you achieve when sucking on a red lollipop :)

Overall, I adore Chanel lipsticks. They're hydrating enough (not extremely though), and have wonderful color payoff. It's a bit of an "investment" lipstick ($30) but for a lipstick junkie like myself, I'm willing to find them online for better prices or simply just own a few without going overboard. They make me feel so grown up when I have them in my makeup bag at work. I love them so much that I hardly reapply because I just love being in their presence. Yup, I'm fully aware of how insane that sounds.

Here are some recent lipstick purchases I made :)

YSL Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion

It's a very cool tone peachy, coral shade that is creamy and luxurious on the lips. The subtle mango scent is also really refreshing and reminds me of the warmer days.

I've only worn this a handful of times, mostly on the weekends. I know a ton of people love this lipstick because of how creamy it is, but isn't it too creamy? I feel like it practically falls off my lips! o_o Since the pigmentation of this lipstick is outrageously so, I just swipe very lightly on my bottom lip and use my ring finger to blend the color. I love the beautiful ripe peach color, and the intense coral, but the creaminess of the lip color always feels like I've over applied unless you use your fingers (which I prefer anyway) but it's easy to waste the lipstick with that kind of consistency.

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Reflect 417 Pink Liberty
I don't have any swatches yet, sorry! This is a beautiful pearly lip gloss with light reflecting shimmer that makes your lips really glossy. I own both this and the Lace Beige which is a dark nude and I will show you later :) The tube looks so luxurious by itself, doesn't it? I can tell you that it's a really pearly pink that is especially charming in the daytime.

I also went to Walgreens last night and saw that they had a clearance on all their Yes to Carrots body butters!

I picked up 3 of these! These body butters mean serious business. They are super hydrating and really effective toward dry skin. I own the Yes to Cucumbers one and I love the refreshing scent. These butters have no parabens or bad ingredients. And carrots naturally brighten your skin :) Yay! I have enough butters for the next few months.

Here are some of my favorites for Jan and Feb :)

Dior blush in Passion Fruit (find it here) :D I've been using this blush almost everyday! I absolutely love it! It comes in two shades - one that is a blush and one that acts like a highlighter. The two work together beautifully to create a really pretty glow. Both are peachy shades! I love it soooooo much. This is my first Dior blush and I'm curious to see how the others compare. Do you love it? Hate it? :)

Sonia Kashuk blush in Lilly :) I can't even emphasize how much I love this blush. It's so pigmented (at least for me) and so pretty. It's a flattering matte pink with a bit of mauve to keep it warm on the face. I used this a lot in Feb and love this as an everyday color. Really natural and healthy looking. I'm growing a love toward Sonia Kashuk cosmetics! I also love the magnetic closure of this blush too :) Yay! I love blushes. You can find these at Target stores or online :)

This post took me all day to do! LOL I stopped in the middle to run errands.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

...And don't forget to follow me on Twitter! :) See you there!
