Light Flush

MAC blushes are synonymous to their brand for good quality, wearer friendly makeup. One of my favorite blushes is the MAC MSF in Light Flush. It's a soft balance of pink and copper, complete with a golden finish. The shade itself earthy pink flush that resembles nature's beautiful reflection of autumn. I really adore this blush and was sad to see it hiding in the back of my makeup drawer. BUT, I brought it back! I hope it gets more uses now.

It gives a lustrous, glowy elegant finish that just tops all my other blushes. The complexity of this is the layers of flattering colors and not just one simple shade.

 One swipe of the blush!

There is all the rage with R&R blushes right now and I wish I could've gotten some. Eek! I actually placed an order on their site when they had the 50% but they sent me an email later apologizing that all was sold out :( Even the not so popular colors were gone. Oh well, let's hope they have another sale soon :)

I hate using flash because it really washes out the makeup I used, especially the blush. Frustrating because I took these at night and the flash also casts a strange tan that I don't have o_o

Products used:

Bare Escentuals in Golden Medium
MAC MSF in Light Flush
Clinique E/S palette
Lancome Artliner
Lancome mascara
Nars Sunset Strip gloss
Loreal Peach Fuzz lipstick

What is/are your HG blush(es)? :)

Purples

Hi everyone :)

As you all know, summer is coming to an end. The back to school rush has just passed and everyone's head is back in the game for academics. Lucky for me, fall is also approaching which means comfortable knits and sweaters, coats and fall accessories. Not that summers here have been scorching... I've been pretty lucky. It's been one of the best summers I've ever had, both weather-wise and for me personally :)

I've been trying out Laura Mercier's Pressed Powder for a little over 2 weeks. To say the least, I REALLY like it. It's so luxurious... it gives a nice silky matte finish. It's supposed to be formulated with "French Cashmere" mineral. Not sure if they are the only company that claims this but it's a great product. I bought it online not too long ago in hopes of replacing my normal Shiseido powder. I like them both! So, I don't know...! o_o I need to stick with one thing and stay loyal to it, but it is so hard! =p

That is me wearing the Laura Mercier pressed powder. I love it! I used a kohl eyeliner to line my lids. By the end of the day, the eyeliner was all smudged and smeared. Yuck! It's too mushy anyway for my small eyes.  I am also wearing a Sephora lip gloss called Bronzed Beauty. I love it! I've had it FOREVER but never cared for it until now! LOL It's kind of this coppery color with light shimmers. I really like it! :) I also like that it's not too flashy.

What do you guys think? Any Mercier fans here? :)

Lastly, I was tagged by Penelope for the "8 Most worn things". Here is my take on it!

MOST WORN HAIR PRODUCT

A constant winner in my book. This is a Japanese hair treatment that you use when your hair is still a little damp. It makes my hair REALLY soft. I'd eat it if I could. I love it that much! LOL.

MOST WORN LIPSTICK
Lancome Color Gloss in FEVER.
This is discontinued now but I use it a lot. It's a pretty coral shade that looks amazing on lips. It smells really good too :)

MOST WORN EARRINGS
I switch my earrings pretty often but I'm really liking the sea green colors right now. These stand out without much effort :)

MOST WORN TOP
Sorry for the bad picture. It's actually a light grey top that has been butchered terribly by my camera. I like lightweight, silky tops that have floral designs.

NAIL POLISH
I wear this all the time. I love pale pink colors.

MOST WORN SHOES
So hard to choose. I wear different shoes everyday! LOL Most worn this week is my yellow platformish peep toe heels. This shoe has incredible support because of the chunky back. I love it! :)

MOST WORN PERFUME
Ralph Lauren Romance.
I've loved this scent for over six years.

MOST WORN BAG
Like shoes, I like to change my bags constantly. But this is my go-to bag.
La Tour Eiffel. My mom gave it to me when I started my first job after college. She had this bag when she was 21! LOL

Maybelline Eye Studio

When Maybelline Eye Studio first made its debut in stores, I was pretty skeptical. It seems like they just repackaged and remarketed their already bad eyeshadows. Plus, I already hoard all sorts of eye makeup stuff so this particular collection didn't intrigue me enough to buy. Until they went on sale! Clearance style. That was when i decided to try it since $1.66 won't set me back too much =p I do my most action packed hoarding when things go on sale. I'm not sure why, but I always feel like things will get up and run away from me if I don't buy it. LOL. I know I'm not the only one who thinks so =p I hope not.

Anyway, I only picked up one of their single eyeshadows to try since I didn't have too much hope for it. Took it home and played around with it. Turns out that I really like it. I have bad judgment when it comes to stuff like this. I always think I won't like something but then it turns out I'm wrong =p

This shade is called Starlet. It's a silvery blue/steel color with a frost silvery pink highlight.

What do you guys think their eyeshadows? :) I'm happy I got to try this shade. I really dig the fun shimmery colors.

Concealers

I want to share with you my love affair for concealers. If it weren't for them, I don't think I could ever feel as confident meeting people or feeling beautiful.Although I don't own much of them, I feel like I have a pretty good collection that I use on a day to day basis. Most work days, I skip over the foundation and apply concealer instead since it's much lighter, less work involved (yes, I am lazy) and fast :)

Milani, ELF, Lancome, Neutrogena, Lancome Photogenic, MAC

L-R: Milani in Light, ELF Concealer in Light/Glow, Lancome Effacernes in Beige, MAC studio finish NW 25, Lancome Photogenic in Camee, Neutrogena 3 in 1 Light.

My favorite of this bunch is the Lancome ones. I bought them at the outlets in a CCO store since I believe both are getting discontinued. Jen from Frmheadtotoe uses Lancome in Camee and says it's her favorite concealer. I was gifted that concealer a little while ago and I fell in love with it =D My very favorite and HG is the Lancome Effacernes. It's foundation-like, but it doesn't mimic the exact skin tone color which is good for me since I hate dark spots on a face.

Here is me with a bare face the night before! LOL It was taken in the dark with flash. Yuck!

The after pic: Bright and early in the morning before work. I wore Lancome's Effacerness concealer, some mascara, eyeshadow, and blush. And the trusty sunscreen. The power of concealers. Eek!

And that night! o_o I didn't do anything special. I went to Sweet Tomatoes (or Soup Plantation in SoCal) for dinner.

I'm currently looking for a stick concealer that can be handy to travel with. There is just so many options! I guess I'll just have to run around and try different things. Generally, salmon colored concealers are probably the most versatile. They can cover the darkest of circles :)

Many of you said really nice things about my hair and asked me how I keep it like that. First of all, you guys are so sweet. You would never believe how my hair was the negative talk of the community I lived in growing up.I naturally have curly hair. Not wavy, CURLY. =p As a child, I grew up really hating my hair and wondering why I have never met any Asians with hair like mine. My whole family has pin straight hair and I happen to be the one that's different from the genetic pool. It was wounding to watch other Asians make fun of you because you look different. By different, I also wore geeky glasses, and had braces on top of unmanageable hair o_o

This was what my hair looked like from puberty to 19 years old. This was also the day before I went to get it permanently straightened. In Santa Monica, I went to a salon that specializes in the Yuko hair straightening technique. I'm not sure if any of you heard of it before, but it's a Japanese straightening technique that's supposed to take off the first layer in the hair follicle to reveal healthy hair inside. It was 8 hr process where they took my hair and transformed it to be more manageable. Lots of yucky chemicals involved, but it did the job.

That was when I was 19. Now, I'm years older and I straighten my hair permanently every yr and a half when it starts to become uncontrollable =p I use a hair straightener on some days I feel like straightening it but most days, I don't really. Ever since I straightened my hair for the first time, it's never gotten back to how it looked like at 19 - something I am truly grateful for :)

One thing I do use on a weekly basis is Philosophy's Shear Splendor.

It's an oil treatment that really moisturizes and conditions hair. It is extremely oily though. Like heavy, weighing down your hair oily. Which is why I use it once a week! You also can use it on the ends of your hair for a nice, shiny effect. It works great on me because of the immense amounts of  hair I have.

What a lengthy post. A lot of me feels so humbled to be around such nice gals like you all and to share a bit of my past really makes me feel more confident and content :)

Describe a perfect date: Eek! Wonders of the World

I am back from my little excursion! :) I've been back for a few days now. Over the weekend, I took a nice trip to the Napa and Sonoma areas where I did numerous wine and olive oil tastings. The sparkling wines in the Sonoma area were spectacular. I absolutely fell in love with the ambiance and constructed beauty of grape growing. Most of all, it was the wine making and the peaceful and picturesque towns in the Napa and Sonoma areas.

One of the many wineries I visited :)

Totally random, but I also went to fly kites on my way to Napa! LOL Do you see my ladybug? :)

I enjoyed enjoyed  Muir Woods, and the many local beaches in that area. The mountains were breathtaking and the drive there was not without effort. The windy roads were scary but the moment you reach your destination, you don't feel as if you're in California anymore.

As for makeup during my trip, I didn't wear much. I just brought a high SPF moisturizer (Neutrogena Liquid) and a few essentials that I use daily like concealer, powder, mascara and blush.Concealers are the secrets to the universe! There is never a wrong time to use them. I'll do a before and after in another post and you will see why. I look like dog poop in the morning but after applying concealers, I look and feel more of what a person should feel like =P

Have a great Friday tomorrow! Will be posting more this weekend :)
