A Ramble Here, a Ramble There

Hello all, and happy Tuesday! I hope your week is starting off well.

I've been kind of contemplating if I should write this or not because I normally don't talk about my personal life on this blog. But I figured it's been eating at me and I do want to share a little of what's been going on.

For the past 2 weeks, I've been up and down, then up, then down. And the cycle repeats.

I've made the hard decision to resign from my current job to accept a new (and possibly better) one as a career move. I've been at my current position for 3+ years and to put it all into perspective is overwhelming to say the least! I've moved on from jobs in the past but this one was the first "real job" I had since graduation. To start fresh again is exciting, hopeful... yet scary and daunting. The prospect of starting anew is nearly suffocating as I've been stable here; everything familiar, comforting, keen. But I do have to move on and focus on what's best for myself. I won't go into details about why I've decided to leave but it's really a number of things. I hope it's the right decision and I pray that this change will be worthwhile.

I'm quitting my stable office job to be part of an exciting new start-up venture where anything can go. It's crazy but I feel in my gut this is going to be the right move for now. Keeping my fingers crossed!

There's going to be bouts of uncertainty in life and a road block or two down the road but it's the unknown territory that is equally terrifying as it is exciting. !

I'll be starting my new job on Apr 8. Any tips or advice is welcomed!

Sounds like such an intimidating process to switch jobs. But I think starting a prospective career at a start up seems really exciting! At least that is something I'd rather do, a smaller close knit environment appeals to me more :P I wish I had some tips to share but I have no 'real world' experience. If you feel comfortable with sharing, I would love to hear some from you after you settle into your new work!

It's brave of you to make such a brave move and being anxious is a part of it. But that's how we learn and grow by taking chances. I'm happy for you, being part of something new, helping to build it up and watch it grow is very exciting. I'm wishing you the best!!!!

Congrats on your decision! It's sometimes very scary to follow and pursue what's truly in your heart, but life is a journey full of the unexpected! We are often so afraid of change because we're so used to the same routine, but sometimes change is desperately needed. Good luck at your new job and enjoy the days in between to take advantage of the things you may have been missing out on while you were at your old job. =)

Also, working at startups has always been so much more fun than corporate type jobs...I think you'll love it!

Congratulations on your new job! I know how it must have been a tough decision to make but you need to do what you feel is best for you. It's a huge leap and as with anything new, there will be uncertainties but then again, nothing is certain in life. By your taking this chance, you will never, ever wonder, "What if..." No regrets! I wish you all the luck in this new endeavor.

I'm glad you shared this with us :) The longest I've ever stayed at any job is about 2 years, even in this economy. I really believe it's good to take chances; risks are worth it when it comes to being happy/following your dreams!! Don't forget, there is still time to enter my giveaway!

Sounds exciting! I'm curious to know what your new job entails. I understand that a new beginning and the unknown can be a bit scary but if your gut feeling tells you it's for the best then I'm sure it's only going to be a matter of getting use to it :). Good luck and best wishes on your new role.

Congratulations on your new job! As for tips to share, at least for the first 3 months in your new job, you will be comparing everything to your previous one. Try not to fall into that habit of comparing because if things do not turn out the way you wanted it to be, the comparison can really eat you up. Just appreciate what you have in your new job and make the best out of it. You will then be able to enjoy your new position better.

Congrats on the new job! I think we all have that innate threshold of how much we can take of a job we hate or be in a job we've outgrown or whatever the reason may be. Everyone finds that moment where it feels right to make the switch. Seems like you've approached that moment. Good job.
