Best of 2011 Series: Foundations!

If this blog was dedicated to one thing and absolutely one thing only, it would be for foundations. It's what I reviewed the most passionately about in 2011. It's hardly an easy task to find the right foundation, but the joy is in the journey searching for the one. I certainly had a great time trying different kinds - from drugstore to high end - both equally great in their own rights.

Best Drugstore Foundation of 2011

Kanebo Media Moisture Foundation

See my review with swatches and a FOTD here! :) While this is a Japanese drugstore brand, it's hard to find in the US. I had to buy it online, for around $12.00 on Adambeauty. It's a very moisturizing foundation and feels amazing on the skin.

For a foundation that's easier to get, I definitely love the Revlon Photo Ready foundation.

Best High End Foundation of 2011

This was hard because I liked so many! But my ultimate favorite is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation.

See my review and swatches here, and here

MAC Face & Body Foundation

See my review here

It was a tie between Guerlain Lingerie de Peau or the MAC one, but i ultimately chose the MAC one because of how light it felt on my skin and how comfortable it sits in high heat and relative humidity. The Guerlain one, while a wonderful foundation, didn't impress me as much as the MAC one. My next goal for 2012 is to try the MUFE face & body one to compare to my beloved MAC one :) We shall see.

Honorable Mention

Shu Uemura Face Architect Foundation -

I realized I didn't write a review as promised (sorry!), I will do so in 2012.

I need to try a Bobbi Brown foundation at some point. Everyone really loves them! But now I'm interested in that Shu one too!

I should really try that MAC face and body. I've heard lots of great things about it, even Lisa Eldridge loves it.

Thanks for this great list of foundations! I haven't tried Photoready, but if this is any improvement over Colorstay, I would probably end up really liking this one too. I'm going to keep an eye open for the Kanebo one. They seem to make a lot of skincare products, but I never knew they did makeup products as well.

great picks!!! i like the revlon one also for drugstore, for HE, def the MUFE F+B was my top foundation!!! hope you try it and love it!! less ticky and lighter feeling than MAC! less dewiness though, which is ezily fixed with Fix +!

I love to use the Revlon Photoready only for hightlight but not all over my face.

Bobbi Brown foundation is the one I really want to try...I'll pick it up once I'm done with my MAC fix fluid.

By the way, we just buy the eggnog at Vons lol. Do you know how to make it from scratch?

Finding the perfect foundation is like kissing lots of frogs before you get your prince.
I think my favourite of the year has to be Chanel Mat Lumiere (damn them for discontinuing it!!) for Summer and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum for Winter.

revlon worked pretty well for me but i tired of the microsparkles inside. very rarely do i wear foundation all over my face anymore - it makes me break out even faster. thanks for your fave list. happy new year!

Hmm...Where did you get Kanebo foundation? I want to try it! I was planning on buying the bobbi brown liquid foundation to match my cream foundation (compact I carry at work) but Kanebo would probably be a cheaper option...

ho ho ho ho I'm a foundation junkie as well XD hmmm I've tried the skin foundation but I have combination skin and it looks so oily on me at the end of the day =/ sighhhh my quest for search of the perfect foundation continues! Although I haven't tried the MAC face and body foundation and Revlon one. They're definitely on my to-try list though ^_^ have you tried neutrogena healthy skin foundation?? that one I really want to try as well! I think you might like the Dior forever fusion wear foundation (the new one)... I have combination skin so it doesn't really wear that well on me, but the finish is so natural and AWESOME O_O

RE: hmmmm I haven't... this was my first time purchasing Asian clothes O_O although I've looked through a number of those wholesale websites I'm too scared to order since I have no confidence that I'm gonna fit... so yeah... sorry I'm not any help >_< Hope you're having an awesome holiday too =D and thanks for the kind words hehe <3 I was like I don't think anybody wants to watch me for 17 min -.-" LOL!
