Review: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup!

I love a good foundation. Who doesn't? It took me awhile to convert to foundation that came in a jar simply because it is messy, heavy and in a jar. But I've since taken a second look and realized that jar foundations are gorgeous to have on a vanity, looks very luxe and you can use every bit of it (if you can).

I started using this foundation at the tail end of November when my mom gave it to me. She bought it because she loved the jar, and thought it would be nice for me to have one as well. It's nice and sturdy but not the most travel friendly.

Consistency: The Revlon Whipped Foundation has a gorgeous texture, almost gel-like with a mousse cream finish. It blends incredibly well and feels like a sheer layer of your own skin. The amount of coverage is ample enough for anyone trying to achieve evenness. It has a very silky, soft focus finish and my skin loved every bit of it.

It layers on very beautifully and the pigments are great. Blends really nicely. I used it for over 15+ hours one day because I was out from day to night. It didn't transfer, smudge or look ridiculous. I dusted a bit of powder on my face after 8 hours or so as a touch up but it nonetheless surpassed its longevity.

My mom bought this for me in its lightest shade (Ivory) which I panicked about. I thought I'd be at least 5 shades darker because it looks so light in the jar. After testing it out, I realized how well it blended with my skin tone and the shade is fitting.

For a drugstore foundation, this one is truly an unremarkable gem. I do wonder why it's not the standard 1oz though (it has .80 oz) but I suspect that the packaging is already bulky enough.
All in all, I love this foundation! It is truly a gorgeous texture and feels like a dream on the skin. Revlon really did an amazing job on this product. It gets an A+ from me :)

The rest of what I wore in my FOTD:

NYX Addis Ababa Lip Creme

It looks so intimidating from tube but I patted it on my lips very lightly for work. It's a nice wash of color, sheer and smooth. I love these lip cremes!

That concludes my fave review for the Revlon Creme Foundation! Have you tried this foundation? What are you thoughts on it? :)

See you all in the comments!

This has been raved about everywhere that I really want to try it! The jar kind of reminds me of YSL foundation I had a long time ago. I would definitely agree that this is something that would look nice on the vanity table hehe. So sweet of your mum to buy it for you~

Ooooh that's very long wearing! How is the oil control? It sounds very similar to the Lunasol Water Cream foundation.

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

Hi Nunu! It's pretty good at oil control. The foundation is more on the "drier" side.

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

Thanks! :) I hope you try it and like it ^_^

Thanks Janet!

I have this too but I rarely use it. I like sheer coverage for everyday. But when I have special occasions to attend to, I would use this. It does have a unique texture to it and the staying power is excellent.

Wow, it looks so dreamy on you!  I would love to try this out, I love mousse-like textures and the "barely there" look.  It looks so natural!  This review was so helpful, I may have to pick this up next time I see it!

I heard a lot of raves about this foundation. Darn if I didn't have too many bb creams, foundation and tinted moisturizers I would definitely try this. You look amazing, the texture of this foundation is amazing on you. Thanks for the review!

it looks really nice, just wondering (coz from what i can see in the photo of thr swatch) it looks a little cakey? and is it designed for a specific skin type?

the_beautifool said...

It looks lovely on you! This is my first time seeing photos of you.. You're so pretty gal!! ^_^ Jarred foundations do look nice.. but I'm still iffy about dipping my fingers! Glad to know that it lasts SO long though! xx

Lifeandlensofbeauty said...

it blends it so nicely with your skintone!

thanks for your comment the other day about the Kiehl's toner on my "Empties" post - it's definitely worth a try if you have the chance to :) it smells like floral tea!

Ivory suits you really well!!! I'm slowly realizing that I'm not as dark as I think I am when it comes to foundations, and that after blending and oxidizing, I can go a couple shades lighter than what I usually grab.

Hi Jen! It is on the "drier" side, I think. So it must be used with a light hand and then layered over if you want more coverage

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

Thank you!

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

Hi Laura, you and me have nearly the same skin tone!

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

A lot of people have said that =D haha

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

=) Thanks Amy! I hope you try it ^_^

Rainy Days & Lattes said...

haha yeah my mom is a compulsive shopper.

Thanks Anna! I hope you get to try it very soon. I'd love to read your thoughts on it.

This foundation look amazing on you! I am looking for a similar foundation that isn't so cakey looking. I think I will give this a try! Thanks for this awesome review!

I love this foundation too though I get over the hygiene issue by using a Q-tip to get the product out of the jar. I don't like dipping my fingers into it since I know I'm not going to use it daily. Hey I do use Maybelline Dream Matte powder on top of this foundie too - great combo! I do agree with the difficulty in judging the colour from the packaging - I scoured the Internet for women who have the same skin tone as me to see which shade they got. My skin was fading from its summer tan so Warm Golden it was. It was a perfect match.

Blair said...

Oh noes, I can't stand having foundations in a jar form. I have long nails, and when I dip my fingers into the jar, some foundation will inevitably get under my nails. Ummm, no!

The formula sounds amazing though, and it looks wonderful on you!

Sharlynn said...

I've been lusting after this and I have been very much into creams and liquids for moisturizing qualities, I swatched myself in store and had a match but the color I am seems to be very popular and out of stock! Must get it sometime! And I do like that lippie on you! Such a nice bitten flush!^^

I've never tried foundation in a jar for that very reason.  I prefer the pump. OK going to look at your F21 50% off haul.  After 2 trips I got a real leather jacket for $37.50 orig $150 and 12 sweaters.  6 for my Mom 6 for me.  All that for about $100.

The foundation looks perfect on you! I actually quite like jarred products...just because of the aesthetics like you said, haha. Might have to go check this out! :)

The colour matches you wonderfully. I really like it that it looks so flawless yet natural. I can't buy Revlon cosmetics easily. But I really adore a good foundation ^^

Christine said...

I never heard of this one, but Revlon Colorstay is used to be my HG foundation for so long before. It really looks great on you and I really agree that some drugstore products can be comparable (or better) than the high end brands. ^_^ And the lip creme shade is so lovely!!

sukipooki said...

The foundations looks flawless on you and the lip creme is really nice! Now I'll have to take a look at them next time I'm at the drugstore!

hmmm yeah foundation in a jar does look pretty messy, and might not be as sanitary, I don't think I like that!

kumiko mae said...

I heard only of good things of said foundation. I have not tried it myself because I'm a bit uncomfortable with the thought of using a foundation that comes in a jar... but yes I notice how the finish looks lovely on your swatch! :D

Joyce said...

hmmm, i am super curious about this stuff, but haven't really settled on a shade. also, would you say it is very mousse/whipped in texture?? it looks like it would spill if it wasn't a thicker cream/whipped formula! lol

i so need to pull out my nyx lip creams again! ;) the foundation looks great on you

The foundation looks gorgeous on you! I have heard so many positive reviews about it, I kind of wish I had picked one up when I was in the States.

Lily said...

The lightest shade sold in my country is Nude 220, which sucks because it is definitely darker than my skin tone. That said, I agree with you. Pretty good stuff :-)

Shopping Obsession said...

This looks absolutely beautiful on you. I just wish there would be testers for these as they look quite deceiving in the jar as in real swatches. I'm looking for a foundation with greater coverage. Definitely going back to the drug store to check them out again.

This looks fabulous on your skin. I loved this too, but mine went bad after a month or so. It stated to smell really bad (like alcohol) and I just couldn't use it anymore. It might have just been mine though.
