One review I've been itching to get out here is from December's Frosty VoxBox. In it, it included two products from Rimmel that I was super excited to try. One was the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner and the other a waterproof makeup remover.
First of all, the reason I thought the eyeliner was intriguing is because of its use as both a waterproof eyeliner and a kohl liner. Those two never go hand in hand, right?
I thought this would be a dupe of Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on Pencil in Perversion but it's not quite there. Packaging wise, it certainly does look the part. But after wearing it for one day in the office, I came home to raccoon eyes. Not very waterproof.
When i first swatched it, it was definitely really soft and meant to create smokey looks. It is definitely not a pencil you want to create sharp lines with. You can smudge it out for a deeper look but I'm not suited for that since I don't have much eyelid space..so boo. I found that it wasn't as waterproof as some of my other liners like the Dollywink pen or the Mac Fluidline. Scandal Eyes was too "kohl" for me - too smudgy. It didn't work well with me because it literally melted off my eyes in less than 3 hours. I only applied it on my upper lids but it somehow transferred to the bottom of my eyes.
I decided to take it off gently since it was waterproof. I used the Rimmel Let it Go makeup remover but it didn't budge at all! Rimmel claims that this product will take off waterproof eye makeup but such was not the case. I was disappointed in the fact that this makeup remover was the result of direct false advertising. I'm not sure many women would want to come home after a long day only to pull and tug at their eyes to get the makeup off because their makeup remover was not up to par.
(Hi Bacon!)
My trusty Trader Joe's jojoba oil did the trick and I removed the eyeliner in less than 3 seconds :)
In all, I would not repurchase these two products from Rimmel. The eyeliner was too messy and transferred color all over my face. I had the dreaded panda eyes look! The makeup remover did not work at all, even on a Rimmel product. Both had very extreme claims which I did not find appealing, and in it, all claims were based on false advertising, which disappointed me further.
